Honors in the Major (HIM) is the oldest and most prestigious undergraduate research program at UCF. It is a two-four semester independent research project where a student, under the direction of a faculty chair and thesis committee, researches, writes, and defends their original idea in the form of a thesis. Upon successful completion of this program, students have their thesis bound and published in the UCF library, are awarded a medallion to be worn at commencement, and earn Honors distinction on their diploma and transcripts.
Students interested in beginning the Honors in the Major program in the Spring 2010 semester should obtain the application materials from The Office of Research and Civic Engagement in BHC 102. For spring admission, all materials must be received by The Office of Research and Civic Engagement by Wednesday, January 13, 2010.
